Thanks, Bob! Having grandchildren seems like it'd be a great time. I bet you and Denise are pros. Sarah and I are doing well and had lots of fun on our trip east.

Amazing, Greg—way to go! It does have things in common with sesshin, as you said. I saw Joe and Valdene tonight at the book club. Haven't been to the temple in quite a while, but Nonin, I heard, is doing pretty well, considering. Denise and I are mainly doing grandchildren these days, not marathons or meditations, and it's really fun. You and Sarah both look and sound good, real good.

PUPPIES ARE NICE! :D

Thanks for the congrats. Someday we should go on a run together in search of rainbows and puppies, because you're still one of my favorite running buds that I've never ran with.

Thanks, Sue! My limits regarding running have been gradually changing since I got back into it on a more regular basis in '05. That year I trained for and ran my first half marathon. I used to think I'd never want to run a full marathon thinking running that distance must be brutal, idiotic self-torture. Now that I've done three, I still think it's occasionally brutal, but I mostly enjoy the challenge and have been able to finish without injury. Our limits are quite expansive when we train smart and allow ourselves to adapt gradually. For me, I know I'm doing too much when I'm not enjoying it anymore-- that's a sure sign of overtraining. I'm fortunate to not have felt like running is work very often over the last few years. So, I hope you keep appreciating your running and challenging yourself too! Sarah and I had a blast spending time with you and Frank as well!

Thanks, Laura! Each of us has our own pace that can become lollygagging. For me now it's a pace over 10:00/mile and it also has to be coupled with daydreaming and hamming it up with spectators or other runners. :)

I should've eaten some banana during the race. For some reason they didn't appeal to me, but the orange slices did. And orange, of course, is acidic and more sugary. So maybe that added to my nausea.

awesome greg! i have also wanted to run a non-equinox marathon for comparison. some day... i was amused that a 9+ mile was "lollygagging". :D

couple of food comments: i have eaten bananas during races with success and i have heard yogurt goes down easy too.
